Installing the control sticks

I assembled this whole thing on the workbench, then took it apart to put into the fuselage. If a couple more of the ribs had those removable sections, it would be possible to install it fully assembled. Much unnecessary foul language would be avoided.

These are all torqued and cotter-pinned...thereby guaranteeing their eventual removal. Like all hard-to-get-to bolts, these are full of fiddling little washers that have to go in between two or more inaccessible parts.

My buddy Tom has drummed into me the philosophy "Why use a hand drill when you can use a drill press." So, since these holes really want to be square to the pushrod, I jigged it up on my drill press.

Save yourself an email message: I put on safety glasses before I turned the drill press on!

All painted, riveted, and ready to go into the fuselage.

This is the forward end, attached to the control shaft.

And here's the aft end being attached to the bellcrank. My lovingly-applied paint job took a scratch or two...this pushrod does not go into the fuselage happily.
