Installing the Horizontal Stabilizer

I test fit the HS onto the fuselage, to make a few measurements before matchdrilling. Sometimes it's amazing how crowded this thing makes my house feel. Nonetheless, I'm grateful I'm doing this in my house and not a distant shop. Being able to work in 15' chunks when that's all the time I have makes a difference

Now, I didn't build this thing, remember...my fuselage is a QuickBuild kit, assembled in the Phillipines by these folks. I wasn't about to drill these Very Important Holes (i.e. 100 hrs of work down the tube) without taking a peek. So I wormed my way farther into the tailcone than I'd ever been. I had my nifty LED miner's hat on. I took a canary in case I ran into noxious fumes. I also took the camera so that I could take photos of the areas I couldn't reach.

DSCN0006.JPG This shot was so that my family had something to remember me by if I failed to come out. DSCN0004.JPG This was a view looking forward from my little metal cave. The firewall felt like it was very far away.
DSCN0002.JPG This was what I wanted to see...those beefy extrusions that I'm going to drill into.
