I taped the NACA scoop in place, after predrilling the holes. Then I backdrilled them through
the fuselage skin.
Every time I have to drill into my beautiful QuickBuild fuselage (at least the visible
outside skin) I invoke the spirits of Orville and Wilbur, imploring them to keep me from
screwing up!
The squeezer couldn't quite get to every hole, so I did the ones that I could.
Then I pulled out a nifty little tool I bought from Cleveland. It's a dimple die that
you pull with a pop rivet tool. "Close Quarters Die," they call it.
This is actually for 1/8" rivets, but the dimples came out fine anyway. As the
instructor in my SportAir workshop put it: "You're not building a Swiss watch. You're
building a really fine farm tractor."
Then I had to make bzillion little aluminum "washers" so that the rivets wouldn't pull
through the plastic.
Then, a quick dap of RTV to around the edge, and it's done!
